Juniper Park\TBWA Claims Silver at London International Awards for Save Our Libraries Campaign

Agency awarded for its effort to shed light on government’s library service cuts.

TORONTO; November 5, 2019 -- Juniper Park\TBWA, The Disruption® Company, has won Silver for its creative campaign for Save our Libraries in the Radio & Audio – Public Service/Social Awareness Campaign category at this year’s London International Awards (LIAs).

The LIAs are listed as one of only five global shows in the WARC Creative 100 Ranking, and are rapidly rising to become one of the industry's most important award shows.

Juniper Park\TBWA’s winning campaign for Save our Libraries was launched in May 2019 - following the Ontario provincial government’s announcement of a 50 percent budget cut to library services across the province. It was developed to support the petition circulating online, and amplify the message that these cuts represent a clear threat to library service in Ontario.

The ads depict a dystopian future in which there is virtually no government support for libraries, and transforms various classic works of literature (including Alexander Dumas’ The Three Musketeers) into platforms for product placement and brand messaging.

Each creative element of the campaign ends with the same message – “If we don’t support public libraries, someone else will” – and encourages viewers to visit and sign the petition. Since its launch, the petition has earned more than 100,000 signatures.

Adding to a successful year of honours ranging from Honouree at the Webby Awards to Bronze at both the Clio and Effie Awards, the agency’s latest award reflects its ongoing commitment to developing disruptive ideas that locate and involve brands in culture.
